Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) at Georgia Southern University is pleased to present the works of the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Thesis Exhibitions for Spring 2013. The exhibition is on display in the Center for Art & Theatre until March 24. An artists reception will be held March 14 from 5 p.m. to 7p.m.; all are invited to attend.

Dedicated to serving the public of Southeast Georgia, as well as the university community, the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art is geared toward an interdisciplinary interpretation of art and culture.

“The BFSDoArt Master of Fine Art graduate program is extremely diverse and offers degree specialization in 2 and 3 Dimensional Art, plus Graphic Design. Courses are specifically tailored to develop the professional practices necessary for any contemporary artist. Our graduate student body is dynamic, energetic and passionately focused on creating work that reflects their broad interests. This exhibition is the culmination of three years of deep artistic research and is a wonderful showcase of creative expression,” explains Marc Moulton, MFA Director at the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art.

The exhibition features the following MFA Candidates:
Kimberly RinerKimberly Riner: Shadowlands / MFA in 3-Dimensional Art:Shadowlands is a reflection on experiences of loss seen through the context of cultural responses and rituals. By researching practices associated with religions and cultures, the exhibition explores how the ideals of survivors can embody and honor the deceased.

 

Virginia RussellVirginia Russell: Earthbound / MFA in 3-Dimensional Art:
Earthbound explores the role of flora and fauna found throughout Southeast Georgia. Each handmade functional object celebrates aspects of nature that one may encounter on a daily basis. The exhibitions will feature unique place settings that are meant to enhance the pleasure of eating and drinking, while fostering a connection to the natural world.
