Sociology of Gender

SOCI 4332 / WGST 4332

This course is designed to introduce students to the central role that gender plays in social life. It focuses on the ways that gender affects the lives of both women and men in different social arenas, including family life, schools, religion, the workplace, and the healthcare system, by taking an in-depth look at feminisms, feminist ethics, and feminist movements. The course places a particular emphasis on how gender is intertwined with issues related to race and ethnicity, social class, and sexuality.
