DUTIES
English
teachers at Saint-Louis
generally ask that their American assistants be able to lead
conversation/discussion sessions, role play activities based on authentic materials
(ads, fliers, etc.), and communicative games in English. They are also very
interested in oral presentations on topics dealing with life in America and
based on a variety of authentic documents, such as newspaper articles,
brochures, radio shows, etc . . . The specific nature of the duties
assigned to GSU interns at Saint-Louis is determined in consultation with
each individual student selected for the program and may vary, depending on
each intern's wishes and ability, and on the teacher(s) to whom they are
assigned. These duties may also include other tasks, such as, for example,
the preparation and recording of pedagogical materials. Of course, the
interns' involvement with the local students and teachers may go beyond
their work duties and include their participation in various activities
sponsored either by the school or by local organizations.
Each
intern is responsible for a maximum of 15 contact hours per week but
his/her workload may vary from week to week, depending on the needs of the English
teachers and their classes.
