Outstanding First-Year Writing
Outstanding First-Year Writing, a journal published annually by the Department of Writing and Linguistics, showcases outstanding essays written by students in English 1101 and 1102. In addition to writing all of the essays featured within this journal, students also serve as judges, editors, and manuscript designers.
For years, we have encouraged faculty members to nominate students' essays for this journal. Now we'd like to encourage YOU to submit your own work! If you'd like to submit any of your essays from the calendar year of 2006 (spring semester, summer term, or fall semester), please complete the attached form and give it to Theresa Welford or Kathy Whitaker. You'll find our mailboxes in Newton 1118.
To submit your work, please give us the following:
- one or two printed copies of your essay, with your name & your instructor's name REMOVED;
- a completed self-nomination form;
- an electronic copy of your essay, on CD or disk.
