ESL 0093-English as a Second
Language I 5-2-6
An intensive course designed
for students whose native language is not English. Includes listening and
speaking skills, reading comprehension, with an emphasis on vocabulary
development, basic grammar review, and writing clear, logical, well-structured
essays. Students may be required to pass this course before they are recommended
to enter WRIT 0095 or ENGL 1101, depending on their proficiency. Prerequisites:
Placement dependent upon successful score on Michigan Test of English Language
Proficiency and a writing sample.
ESL 0095-English as a
Second Language II 2-2-3
Designed
for students whose native language is not English. Includes group discussion
skills, interpretation of short readings, advanced grammar review, and
writing clear, logical, well- structured essays. Students may be required
to pass this course before they can enter ENGL 1101. Prerequisites:
Placement dependent upon successful score on Michigan Test of English
Language Proficiency and a writing sample.
