2017 Harbuck Scholarship ceremony rescheduled
The 2016 Harbuck Scholarship Award Reading and Reception will be held Friday, October 13, at 7 p.m. in IT 1005.
The Harbuck Scholarship honors Ally Harbuck, a free-spirited creative writing major from Savannah who died in a traffic accident in 2005 at the age of nineteen, one week before the end of her freshman year at Georgia Southern. She wrote for The George-Anne and was active in the Gay-Straight Alliance and the National Organization for Women on campus. Her parents, Debi and David Harbuck of Savannah, raised the funds to endow the scholarship.
All Harbuck events and readings are free and open to the public.
The Department of Writing & Linguistics is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Georgia Southern’s College of the Creative Mind. CLASS prepares its students to achieve academic excellence, develop their analytical skills, enhance their creativity, and embrace their responsibilities as citizens of their communities, nations, and world.
