Alumna Cassie Beasley reviewed in The New York Times

Cassie Beasley, former Writing and Linguistics major, has released her debut novel, Circus Mirandus. In the June 19 The New York Times Sunday Review of Books, Gregory Maguire calls Circus Mirandus “smoky” and a “beguiling first novel.”

Other favorable press for Circus Mirandus includes multiple starred reviews, including those in Publishers WeeklySchool Library Journal and KirkusThe film rights for Circus Mirandus are also being optioned by Stone Village Productions. Beasley, who received her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, lives outside of Statesboro with her sister (and another Writing and Linguistics alumna!), the author Kate Beasley.
