Classroom Visitation Program

If you would like a consultant from the University Writing Center (UWC) to visit your class(es) and give a short presentation about the center and its resources, please take a moment to fill out the information below and send us your request.

Once we have this information, someone from the writing center will contact you by phone to arrange a specific day and time for the visit.  In our presentation, we will distribute information about our hours and location and encourage all students to bring in drafts of their papers for individual conferencing and assistance. It should take no more than 5-10 minutes of time at the beginning of your class.

This is a visit appropriate for all classes at all levels in all colleges, regardless of whether your students will be working on a writing project in your course.  We have given presentations in undergraduate classes and graduate seminars, to audiences as small as 5 and as large as 200.  We have given presentations to classes in Interior Design, Business Management, Kinesiology, Chemistry, Anthropology, History, Art, and virtually every department in every college across the GSU campus.  Since we began making these visits in the Fall of 2000, we have visited nearly 500 classes and given our presentations to more than 10,000 students.

If you would like your students to get some feedback and response to their drafts before turning them in, or if you would just like your students to know that the UWC exists as an important resource for them as they grow and develop as writers, please consider having us visit your classes this semester.

We try to make most of our visits during the first week or two of classes, but we will be happy to schedule another time if that fits more conveniently with your schedule.  If you have any questions about this program or want additional information, please call the director, Dr. Michael Pemberton, at 871-1383.
