Prepositions: Time and Place

Time:

            In:  part of day, month, year, season, in time.

                                      Examples:  in the morning, in May.

 

            On: day/date, holiday, vacation, on the weekend, on time.

                                      Examples: on Christmas, on Tuesday.

 

            At: hour, night, noon, midnight.

                                      Examples: at 3:00, at noon.

 Place:

             In: city, state, country, continent.

                                      Examples: in a car, in a truck, in a van, in the country, in the yard, in bed.

 

            On: floor, street, campus.

                                      Examples: on a bus, on a train, on a plane, on a beach, on a picnic.

 

            At: place in general, address with number.

                                      Examples: at the beach, at a party, at 1 Happy Street.
