Research Interests:
Dr. Candy B. K. Schille's original (and persistant) specialties are Restoration
and Eighteenth Century British Literature, especially drama, but she has
cultivated a wide interest in Gender Studies, and frequently combines all
three in her scholarship and classes. She was the founding director
of the WGS program at GSU and remains committed to and excited about the
expanding program. WGS has also inspired Schille's recent spate of
short stories and memoirs about "odd" women. Published thus far are
"Danger Dog and I Are Going In," "The Thing About Golden Balls Is," and
"The Thread God." Latest is "Redwoods like Great Unmarried Girls."

Research Interests:
Dr. Sims's research interests focus on the history of women
in the American South. She has been particularly interested in several
themes that intersect in southern women's history: ideals of femininity
and how they shape women's lives; the ways in which women achieve
power and influence; the significance of women's voluntary associations;
and the intertwining of ideas about race and gender. She is the
author of The Power of Femininity in the New South: Women's
Organizations and Politics in North Carolina , 1880-1930. Currently
she is working on a biography of Juliette Gordon Low, the Savannah
native who founded the Girl Scouts of the USA . |
