Research Grant Proposals for the funding of a full semester Archaeological Field School to be run in Panama in the Commarca de San Blas are being submitted to Funding Agencies. Since none of the universities in Panama offer degrees in Anthropology with an Archaeology emphasis, we are trying to establish a relationship with an institution there so students may earn transferable Georgia Southern University credit hours in Anthropology and Archaeology. Georgia Southern University students would be able to take classes in Spanish, Kuna, and Central American Archaeology. The Kuna students would earn credit for Archaeological Field Methods, Archaeological Field Session, Research Methods, and Central American Archaeology. The Kuna students would teach the American and Panmanian students their language. At the same time the American students would teach the Panamanian and Kuna students English. |
| A proposal will be submitted to the Director of the Reina Torres Museum in Panama City, Panama to teach classes in artifact curation. The instruction cover the proper handling of artifacts, methods of analysis, and input of information into computerized databases. The methods part of the class will aid the Reina Torres Museum in the cataloging of their collection and in return the students will gain an appreciation of Central American material culture. |
| Funds raised through the purchase of CDs on the Introduction to the Land and People of Kuna Yala, the History of Kantor Igar, and the Chicha Fuerte Ceremony by students will be used for the Habitat for Humanity construction project for Kuna families from the village of Playon Chico and for scholarships for the four students in the First Field School in Archaeology for the Kuna of the Commarca de San Blas. Individuals may designate which project they would like their purchase or donation to fund. The purchases of the CDs and donations should be made to the Georgia Southern University Foundation, Kuna Heritage Funa # 0727. |

| The CDs have full-screen color pages with hot links that add detail. The colorful layout with sound clips make the ethnography lively and colorful for the students. They are $20 each and may be purchased by check or money order. The copyright was obtained through a Kuna attorney from the island of Playon Chico. The copyrights are held in Panama by the community of Playon Chico. All profits go to fund the Habitat for Humanity project for the Kuna from Playon Chico, the Kuna Archaeology Scholarships, and Cultural Preservation projects requested and approved by the community studied in this work. Funds raised by the translation of the heiroglyphic texts included in this ethnography are being used to employ Domingo Diaz, Mauricio Mendez, and Lucio Aerosemana while they preserve the esoteric Kuna texts of Saila Ebelardo Brenes and Kantule Chalie Brown. |
