SOCIOLOGICAL
SOCIETY
The Georgia Southern
Sociological Society is a student organization led by sociology majors
but open to all GSU students who are interested in exploring sociological
issues and serving the community. Our past and present projects include
volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, Statesboro Boy's
Town, Statesboro Nursing Home, AIDS Awareness Week, and many others. We
also organize guest speakers to talk about careers for sociology majors
and minors. New members are always welcome!!! For more information, please

ANTHROPOLOGICAL
CLUB
The Georgia Southern
Anthropological Club is a student organization open to any student with
an interest in anthropology. Dues are $6.00 per semester or $12.00 per
year. The organization sponsors guest speakers (students, professors,
and off-campus visitors who report on research and lead workshops). Field
trips to archeological sites and to regional anthropology conferences
are organized, in addition to service, social, and fund raising activities.

Officers are elected at the beginning of the spring semester.
ALPHA KAPPA DELTA, GSU CHAPTER
Alpha Kappa Delta is an International Sociology Honor Society
dedicated "to investigating humanity for the purpose of service."
Membership includes undergraduate and graduate college students, faculty,
and sociologists in non-academic careers.
To qualify for membership, undergraduate students must (1) be of junior
or senior standing, (2) have completed four upper-level sociology courses,
(3) have a 3.0 or better general GPA, and (4) have a 3.0 or better GPA
for sociology courses taken at Georgia Southern University. Graduate students
must (1) be enrolled in GSU's M.A. Sociology program, (2) have completed
two semesters of course work, and (3) have a 3.0 or better GPA in the
M.A. program. GSU faculty or staff members must possess a Ph.D. in Sociology
or be employed as a full-time sociologist in addition to the other requirements
specified above.
Qualified
students will be invited to join AKD in the spring semester of each academic
year. GPA will be calculated through fall semester grades, and invitations
will be extended after the department receives these grades and reviews
the standing of juniors and seniors.
