Department of Sociology and Anthropology
Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology

Anthropology majors at Georgia Southern University receive broad training in general anthropology beginning with an introductory course which surveys the entire field. After completing an advanced course in each of four sub-fields -- cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, and biological anthropology -- students may then choose among a wide variety of upper level courses. These include Georgia Archaeology, The Indians of the Southeastern U.S., World Archaeology, Peoples and Cultures of Africa, and The Rural South, to name a few. The program allows students many options some continue on a general track while others specialize in a particular area such as archaeology or applied anthropology.
