The Psychology Clinic at Georgia Southern University (“The Clinic”) exists to:
1. serve as a training facility for graduate students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology program at Georgia Southern University
2. provide high quality, low-cost psychological services to individuals on the campus and from the surrounding rural communities
3. allow graduate students and the academic community to research clinical outcomes and barriers unique to treatment in rural areas
The Clinic will grow to accommodate all Psy.D.graduate students and, ultimately, doctoral interns as it is our intent to develop an APA Accredited internship site. These graduate students and interns will be involved supervising and training in the provision of top quality, research informed mental health services.
This Clinic will also be the base from which satellite mental health operations reach into rural regions of Georgia, with graduate students providing on-site services.
In addition to providing on-site training for doctoral students and interns, The Clinic will provide on-going, on-site, training for practitioners in rural mental health sites.
Funding for clinic activities, including training and outreach, will be sought through grant acquisition, e.g. from SAMHSA and NIMH.
