Daniel Flanders and GUSCongratulations to Daniel Flanders! Daniel was honored recently with the Meritorious Graduate Student Award by the Georgia Collegiate Counseling Association. This honor is given to people who have "Demonstrated evidence or meritorious service to the profession of college counseling and/or GCCA." Daniel is the GCCA Graduate Student State Representative, and is serving his internship at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where his supervisor had this to say about Daniel:

"When I think of Daniel as a graduate student counselor there are many words that come to mind. Grounded, intelligent, genuine, warm, honest, articulate, and creative, just to name a few! He is the kind of person that inspires confidence, without bravado. Daniel has become a significant part of our office and a welcome addition to our team although he has only been with us since August. I am curious and excited to see what he will bring to the field once he graduates, as he has already brought so much to our office and has shown enormous potential for the future.

"Daniel has shown that he is impaginative and varied in his approach to counseling and has a keen ability ot meet students where they are. While at SCAD, he has co-facilitated nummerous groups to include a support group for students with aspergers and another for students who have a high risk for academic failure. We are happy to present this award to Daniel."
