The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) has four openings at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor starting August 1, 2008. Three positions are in Clinical Psychology (search #53849) and one position is in Experimental Psychology (search #53851).
Required qualifications for all four positions
> evidence of college/university teaching ability;
> evidence of potential for strong publication record;
> ability to work with diverse populations; and
> ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college and University.
> For appointment at the associate professor rank, a minimum of four years of college or university teaching experience at the assistant professor rank or higher is required plus a strong record of research and service with publications and presentations in professional venues.
Required qualifications for the clinical positions
> Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology by August 1, 2008;
> strong psychotherapy skills;
> strong assessment skills; and
> licensed or license-eligible at the doctoral level in GA.
Preferred qualifications for the clinical positions:
> licensed at the doctoral level in GA for at least one year;
> ABPP certification,
> one year full-time college or university teaching experience;
> integrative theoretical orientation;
> managerial and clinical supervisory experience; and
> while the specialty area is open, applicants who are able to participate in a new Psy.D. program focused on integrative psychotherapy and rural mental health are preferred.
The Psy.D. is the first doctorate degree to be offered in CLASS and admitted its first cohort of students for Fall 2007. Teaching responsibilities for the clinical positions include a subset of the following: Introductory Psychology, clinically-related undergraduate courses (e.g., abnormal, substance abuse), and the following graduate courses: Intellectual Assessment, Personality Assessment, Practicum Supervision, Psychotherapy Skills, and a specialty course in an area relevant to the doctoral program.
Required qualifications for experimental position
> Ph.D. in experimental psychology by August 1, 2008.
Preferred qualifications for experimental position
> specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology; and
> ability to teach one of following: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Sensation and Perception, or Personality Psychology.
Teaching responsibilities for the experimental position includes Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, and a course in specialty.
Screening of applications for the clinical positions begins on November 1, 2007, and continues until the positions are filled. Postmark deadline for the receipt of applications for the experimental position is October 31, 2007.
