Symphony Music Returns to Coastal Georgia
The sound of music--symphony music---will be returning to Savannah. The announcement was made today. Georgia Southern University has partnered with several sponsors to form the Southern Georgia Symphony.
They will begin a full concert season this September.
The Savannah Symphony filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and ever since, many Savannahians have longed for a return of symphony sounds.
"I think it's a real opportunity for the symphony, the conductor, to spread our wings and reach a broader constituency," said the symphony's Allen Henderson.
WTOC is one the sponsors of the Southern Georgia Symphony.
