It prepares students who wish to pursue doctoral studies and provides L-5 certification to music educators who have already received or who are eligible to receive basic certification.

Graduate Assistantships and Scholarships

Georgia Southern University offers opportunities for graduate students to contribute to the teaching and research of the college by working as Graduate Assistants. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis based on academic ability, musical skills, and the needs of the Department. Applications for graduate assistantships are made through the College of Graduate Studies. The application and further information is available here.

The priority deadline for assistantship applications is March 1 preceding the academic year for which the assistantship is desired. Although applications may be submitted later, in most years there are not sufficient positions to consider anyone who has applied after the priority deadline.

The music program offers additional funding through the Carol A. Carter Scholarship.
