Instrumental EnsembleThe Instrumental Program is one of the most visible and vibrant parts of the exceptional music program at Georgia Southern University. Students from all academic majors participate in bands, orchestra, chamber ensembles and private applied study. Those wishing to major in music may pursue the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, Performance, or Composition, or the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.

Graduate students may earn the Master of Music Degree in Music Education, Performance, or Composition.

Georgia Southern graduates have a 100% placement rate in music education, and many have successful careers in performance and arts-related professions. Our alumni have continued their education in graduate programs at schools such as the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, University of Miami , University of Tennessee and California Institute of the Arts.

Academic studies and performances are augmented by numerous off-campus appearances by students and faculty. Our faculty are active performers, clinicians, and conductors who appear regularly at national and international festivals and conferences. In May 2005, the Wind Ensemble completed a two-week tour of Italy as part of our ongoing study abroad program. International tours take place every three years and are coupled with an academic residency which affords students an opportunity for additional study at the Bavarian Music Academy.
