Clarinet Choir
The Georgia Southern University Clarinet Choir, directed by Dr. Linda A. Cionitti, performs several times a year both on campus and throughout the state. The ensemble was recently selected to present a concert in conjunction with the Savannah Music Festival in March 2007. In 2006, the group performed at both the Vandoren/Buffet Clarinet Choir Festival in Atlanta and the Georgia Music Education Convention in Savannah . The Clarinet Choir performs annually at the Georgia Southern University Arts Fest and at Winds at Southern.

The GSU Clarinet Choir consists of music majors and non-music majors and performs traditional clarinet choir music, transcriptions, and modern repertoire. Clarinet quartets and quintets are often formed from the choir for a smaller chamber music experience.

G.S.U. Flutes

GSU Flutes rehearse weekly and play on recitals, concerts, and for the annual Madrigal Dinner. Flute majors are required to participate, and other flutists at GSU are invited to audition. .

Percussion Ensemble
The Georgia Southern University Percussion Ensemble , directed by Dr. Matthew D. Fallin, meets twice a week and is an integral part of the student's musical growth and experience. Its focus is a broad repertoire encompassing many styles of percussion literature including transcriptions, popular music, and a variety of percussion ensemble staples.

Students performing in the percussion ensemble are exposed to a different type of ensemble participation usually not found in a Symphonic Band or Orchestral experience. The results are much more attention to execution and the individual sounds being produced by the percussion instruments due to the soloistic role they play in this particular setting. As a result, students are usually able to perform better in a full ensemble and are able to have a better understanding of how their particular part fits into the larger whole of a piece.

Percussion as a discipline lends itself to a wide variety of international styles and it is important for students studying percussion to be aware of these styles. Creativity and improvisation are highly encouraged (in the appropriate settings, of course!).

Trumpet Ensemble

Directed by Dr. Bill Schmid, the Trumpet Ensemble provides an outlet for trumpet chamber music performance. The selected literature ranges from the Baroque era to jazz-inspired works, and is played by trumpet groups ranging in size from four up to twelve or more trumpeters. Membership in the ensemble is required for trumpet music majors, and is open to others by permission of Dr. Schmid.

Trombone Ensemble
Established in 2003 as a performing group, the Trombone Ensemble has played in recital both on campus and in outreach programs to the area secondary schools. The literature performed includes original works for trombones and transcriptions. The range of styles represented in the literature includes music from the Renaissance to modern pop and jazz. Membership is by audition or by permission of the director, Dr. Richard Mason.

Tuba/Euphonium Quartet

The Tuba / Euphonium Quartet was established in the Fall of 2005. Two euphonium and two tuba players are selected to perform literature specifically written for that combination. Membership is by audition or permission of the director, Dr. Richard Mason. On campus recitals and performance demonstrations in the secondary schools are the goals of this chamber group.

Student/Brass Quintets

The Student Brass Quintets at Georgia Southern University have the opportunity to explore and perform a vast amount of literature specifically written for two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba. Membership is by audition or permission of the director, Dr. Richard Mason. Recently the quintets have performed in recitals both on and off campus, including a master class with the Boston Brass. .

Horn Ensemble
The GSU Horn Ensemble provides a unique setting to perform diverse genres of music originals and transcriptions for horns. Directed by Dr. Stephanie Furry, the ensemble's mission is to perform the finest chamber music written for horn and to lead students at Georgia Southern to a greater understanding of brass chamber music literature. The ensemble performs both on campus and in outreach programs and is open for membership to music majors and non-music majors by audition or permission of the director.
