The Area of Vocal Arts is one of the most visible and vibrant parts of an exceptional music program at Georgia Southern University. Students from all academic majors participate in choirs, opera, and private vocal study.  Those wishing to major in music may pursue the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, Performance, and Composition or the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.  Graduate students may pursue the Master of Music Degree in Music Education, Performance, or Composition.

Georgia Southern University music graduates have an almost 100% placement record.  In addition to numerous professional and teaching positions, recent graduates have entered graduate programs at the Eastman School of Music, Boston University, Peabody Conservatory, Westminster Choir College, and the Royal College of Music (London).

On campus studies and performances are augmented by numerous off campus appearances by students and faculty, and by Georgia Southern Chorale's annual concert tour. Most recently the chorale completed a two-week tour of Italy (Summer 2005) highlighted by performances at Saint Peter's Basilica (Vatican City) and the Palazzo Vecchio (Florence). International tours are conducted every third year and are coupled with an academic program which affords students an opportunity for additional study while in residence at the Bavarian Music Academy.
