About Dr. Mason:

Richard Mason is the Assistant Professor of Trombone and Music Theory at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Mason holds a B.A. in trombone performance from W.Va. Wesleyan College , a M.A. in trombone performance from California State University , Northridge, and a D.M.A. from the University of Alabama . He has been the bass trombonist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Harry James Orchestra, Bill Tole Orchestra and the Bill Watrous Wildlife Refuge West, in addition to the LaMirada (CA) and the Burbank Symphony orchestras. Dr. Mason was an active studio trombonist in Los Angeles for more than ten years. He has recorded in most major recording facilities including Capitol Records, A&M Records, Evergreen Studios, MCA Universal, Disney Studios and Paramount . Some of his television and motion picture credits include: Knots Landing, Quincy, Private Benjamin, and Xanadu.

At Georgia Southern University, Dr. Mason teaches all low brass students, sophomore Music Theory, and Brass Class for Music Education students. Dr. Mason also conducts the Trombone Ensemble and serves as the director of mixed brass chamber ensembles.
