Performance Music Majors
String Division
Prospective Music Majors must successfully complete an Entrance Audition prior to acceptance into any music degree. The Entrance Audition will also serve as the Scholarship Audition for qualified students. Although all students will be considered for scholarship, preference will be given to students who audition prior to March 15th of their senior year.
All applicants must bring or send in advance a copy of their transcripts, their SAT or ACT scores, and at least two confidential letters of recommendation (one of which must be from your private teacher or music director).

Audition Requirements : B.M. (String Division)
Performance Music Major:
- 3 octave scales and arpeggios (major/minor)
- 2 contrasting movements of Unaccompanied Bach
- 1 movement of a standard concerto
- Sight reading (String Quartet)
Music Education Major:
- Scales and arpeggios (major/minor)
- 2 contrasting works of your choice
Audition Requirements : Non-Music Major
- Scales and arpeggios (major/minor)
- 1 prepared piece of your choice
Audition Requirements : M.M. (Performance)
- 3 octave scales and arpeggios (major/minor)
- 2 contrasting movements of Unaccompanied Bach
- 1 movement of a standard concerto
- Sight reading (String Quartet)

- Violin: Bach Sonatas and Partitas, Concertos of: Mozart, Bruch, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Lalo, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Wieniawski
- Viola: Bach Sonatas and Partitas/Cello Solo Suites, Concertos of: Hoffmeister, Accolay, Stamitz, Telemann, Walton, Bartok
- Cello: Bach Solo Suites, Concertos of: Boccherini, Haydn, Lalo, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Dvorak
- Double Bass: Bach Solo Cello Suites, Vivaldi Sonatas, other Baroque Sonatas, Concertos of: Telemann. Capuzzi, Dragonetti, Bottesini, Dittersdorf, Vanhal, Koussevitzky
