Audition Requirements : Music Majors
Piano

Prospective Music Majors must successfully complete an Entrance Audition prior to acceptance into any music degree. The Entrance Audition will also serve as the Scholarship Audition for qualified students. Although all students will be considered for scholarship, preference will be given to students who audition prior to March 15th of their senior year.

All applicants must bring or send in advance a copy of their transcripts, their SAT or ACT scores, and at least two confidential letters of recommendation (one of which must be from your private teacher or music director). To reserve your place in the audition, please submit the online application .


Audition Requirements : B.M.

Piano Performance

  1. All major and minor scales, memorized, four octaves
  2. Two contrasting pieces from standard Classical repertoire, memorized
  3. Sight Reading (provided at audition)

Piano Principal (Major in Composition, Education, etc.)

  1. White tonic major scales memorized, four octaves
  2. Two contrasting pieces from standard Classical repertoire, memorized
  3. Sight Reading (provided at audition)

Audition Requirements : B.A. (Piano Minor)

  1. Scales in the key of presented pieces
  2. Two contrasting pieces from standard Classical repertoire, memorized
  3. Sight Reading (provided at audition)

Audition Requirements : M.M. (Piano Performance)

M.M. applicants must submit a list of repertoire studied during previous
four years and prepare a memorized program consisting of the following:

  1. A contrapuntal baroque composition equivalent in difficulty to a three-voice
    fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier by Bach.
  2. A complete classical sonata, preferably by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven
  3. A romantic work.
  4. A work form the impressionist or contemorary period.
  5. Sight reading (provided at audition)
