Opportunities for Non Majors

Music Minor
The minor is offered for students who are interested in pursuing coursework in music, but majoring in another field. The music minor requires Introduction to Music, Music Theory for the Non-Major, and elective upper-division courses in private lessons, ensembles, and/or various classroom-taught subjects. Music minors can earn elective credit in applied music or music ensembles applicable towards graduation in any major.

Applied Music Lessons
Private lessons are available to music majors, minors, and non-majors on most instruments including brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, strings, and voice. Non-majors can earn elective credit applicable towards graduation in any major.

Music Ensembles
Non-music majors comprise a large portion of the department performing ensembles. The department welcomes that participation.
