Scholarships

RUFFIN SCHOLARSHIP

The Ruffin Scholarship is the largest scholarship endowment funded by a single donor in the history of Georgia Southern. Award covers tuition (in-state or out-of-state tuition) and mandatory fees. The Ruffin Scholarship can be held simultaneously with a HOPE scholarship.


FIELDING D. RUSSELL SCHOLARSHIP

The Russell Scholarship is $1,100 for a rising junior or senior English major.


WOODY POWELL SCHOLARSHIP

The Powell Scholarship is $500 for a rising junior English major.


DR. GARY B. SULLIVAN SCHOLARSHIP IN IRISH STUDIES

The Sullivan Scholarship is $500 for a junior or senior minor in Irish Studies.


BEST ESSAY CONTEST FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

A prize of $150 for a student in the ENGL M.A. Program.


BEST ESSAY IN PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES

A prize of $150 for a student who is a Philosophy major or Religious Studies minor.


BEST ESSAY IN LITERATURE

A prize of $150 for a student who is an English major.


OUTSTANDING STUDENT IN ENGLISH

An award of $100 to a senior English major with highest grade point average.


OUTSTANDING STUDENT IN PHILOSOPHY

An award of $100 to best student who is a senior Philosophy major.
