Harry O'Donoghue has made Irish Nights a Statesboro classic, beloved by town and gown alike. A senior Georgia Southern professor says, "When a freshman experiences one of Harry's shows, she or he begins putting down roots in the 'Boro."

A native of Louth, Ireland's smallest county, O'Donoghue delights audiences with his engaging anecdotes, warm singing voice, and extensive repertoire of Irish and Celtic songs. Over three decades, he has crafted a winning musical career, releasing multiple albums and sharing stages with such greats of the Irish music scene as Tommy Makem, Mary Black, and Cathie Ryan. A member of the Center for Irish Studies Advisory Board, O'Donoghue also hosts the Green Island Radio Show, heard across the Peach State every Saturday at 9:00 PM on Georgia Public Broadcasting. Each year since 2000, readers of Connect Savannah magazine have voted O'Donoghue "Best Folk Artist ."

O'Donoghue on O'Donoghue: "
I strive to give audiences the flavor of Ireland: the music; the stories behind the music; and original songs that demonstrate how a modern Irish folk artist works within a living tradition. Mostly, however, I want to bring Irish attitude to my performances. That attitude is many things. It can be irreverent, witty, silly, clever, acerbic, reflective, somber, thoughtful, and even sarcastic. But it's great fun, and we can all use a laugh every now and then."
