BIS Concentration

The Concentration in Public Administration is offered through the University’s Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) programs.  The 18-credit hour area of study in Public Administration is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the theory and practice of the discipline, with careful attention being paid to issues such as administrative law, public policy implementation and evaluation, budgeting and finance, leadership, nonprofit sector management, and managerial innovation.

PBAD 3231 Introduction to Public Administration
PBAD 3431 Public Budgeting and Finance
PBAD 3631 Introduction to Nonprofit Management
PBAD 3731 Public Policy
PBAD 4231 Administrative Law
PBAD 4331 Leadership and Managerial Innovation

The BIS is offered on-campus or online.  Both programs provide for a well-rounded education, with the ability to specialize in several areas of concentration.  Students earning a BIS degree from Georgia Southern are well prepared for a variety of careers and graduate programs.  For example, students completing the concentration in Public Administration are well prepared for graduate studies in the department’s nationally accredited and ranked Master of Public Administration or Graduate Certificate programs.
