Chair, History Department: College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Georgia Southern University. Reporting to the dean, primary responsibilities include administrative and leadership duties associated with chairing a department of 26 active teacher-scholars. Position is a 12-month appointment, and salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications: PhD in History (field of specialization open); eligible for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor and to the graduate faculty; demonstrated excellence in teaching; significant publication record in peer-reviewed venues; and record of outstanding contributions to professional field. Minimum of 4 years college/university teaching experience at the assistant professor level or higher is required for the rank of associate professor. Minimum of 5 years college/university teaching experience at the associate professor level is required for the rank of professor. Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years prior administrative experience.
