The GSU History Department offers the following majors:

The Bachelor of Arts in History
Bachelor of Arts, Teaching Track prepares students who plan to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching.
The Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in History, by invitation to outstanding students
The Bachelor of Arts Honors History, by invitation from the University Honors Program
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR HISTORY MAJORS

History Major Requirements
Area F: 18 hours
Foreign language: 6 hours (minimum)
FORL 2001 third semester language
FORL 2002 fourth semester language

Two courses from the following: 6 hours
ANTH 1102 Introduction to Anthropology
GEOG 1130 World Regional Geography
PHIL 2130 Living Issues in Philosophy
PSYC 1101 Introduction to Psychology
RELS 2130 Introduction to Religion
SOCI 1101 Introduction to Sociology

History Foundations: 6 hours (completion recommended prior to taking upper-level courses)
HIST 1111 World History I
HIST 2630 Methods and Practices of History

Major: 24 hours in history courses*
3000+ U.S. history
3000+ European history
3000+ non-Western history
3000+ elective
3000+ elective

HIST 4635 Senior Seminar

Minor: 15 hours (minimum)*

Entrance instrument:
HIST 2630 submission

3000 level history materials: (at least one)
