Teaching & Research Interests:
My research intersts have been antebellum American history and American religious history, particularly researching Roman Catholicism in the American South. I have published two books, Rebellion and Realignment: Arkansas's road to Secession, 1987; Mission and Memory: A History of the Catholic Church in Arkansas, 1993. I am under contract wtih the University Press of Florida to write a history of the Catholic Church in the American South. After this book is over, I would like to add an undergraduate course on a History of the Spanish Frontier in the United States, and a graduate seminar on American Religious History.
