FORL 1010: Preparing for Success Foreign Languages (1 credit hour)
This course will address needs of students who have difficulty learning a foreign language because of real or perceived obstacles, such as learning disabilities. The course will address strategies for better linguistic functioning in foreign language classes and ultimately help in student retention. Prerequisite: None.


FORL 3030: Selected Topics in Foreign Languages (1-3 credit hours)
Study of a topic in Foreign language literature, culture, society, thought or language not included in the regular offering. Continued development of all five language competencies (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture). May be repeated for credit provided a new topic is studied. Prerequisite: FORL 2002.


FORL/LING 3131: Greek and Latin Vocabulary (3 credit hours)
Greek and Latin Vocabulary in English is a course designed to improve the student's use and understanding of the vocabulary of English through a study of the Latin and Greek elements (word roots) in English. Emphasis on words in current scientific and literary use. No knowledge of Greek or Latin required. No prerequisites.


FORL 3431: Foreign Languages Methods P-5 (3 credit hours)
Includes the study of historical, theoretical, and practical dimensions of materials and methodology in foreign language education. Through lectures, discussions, and class activities, students will become familiar with the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages at the P-5 level. These activities include reading and discussion of text materials, development of lesson plans, evaluation of materials, in-class demonstrations of teacing techniques, and appropriate field experiences. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Pre-Professional Education Block and admission to Teacher Education.


FORL 3432: Foreign Languages Methods 6-12 (3 credit hours)
Includes the study of historical, theoretical, and practical dimensions of materials and methodology in foreign language education. These activities include reading and discussion of text materials, development of lesson plans, evaluation of materials, in-class demonstrations of teacing techniques, and appropriate field experiences. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Pre-Professional Education Block and admission to Teacher Education.


FORL/ANTH 3510: Futures in Foreign Languages (1 credit hour)
Guided discussion and investigation of the field of foreign languages, with attention to opportunities for foreign language learners, challenges of a global society, and projections of future needs and uses for foreign languages. Prerequisite: 2001 or equivalent in any foreign language. Required of foreign language majors.


FORL/LING/ANTH 3533: Introduction to Language (3 credit hours)
A general introduction to the nature and structure of language and its role in society. No prerequisites.

Concentrated study of a topic in literature, culture, society, thought, or language. May be repeated for credit provided a new topic is studied. Prerequisite: Two Foreign Language courses at the 3000 level.
