Broadcasting Major

Facilities

The Broadcasting area has quality laboratory facilities and is continually upgrading them. The program is hands-on oriented to ensure that students are prepared to employ the "tools of the profession" upon graduation.

The labs include three audio production studios:
Two combo units and the third an eight channel multi-track production system.
Computerized audio production systems, utilizing Cool Edit and Saw Plus software are employed.

The video facilities include a three-camera production studio and attendant control room, full function lighting equipment, special effects generator, and computerized graphics and character generation systems.

Two analog and six digital production systems are utilized to creatively prepare polished programs. Portable video cameras utilize the Hi 8 and DVC formats.

WVGS is the campus radio station and offers students on-the-air and management experience. Other majors work with Northland Cable TV, aid with athletic event coverage, or produce materials for campus instructional needs.
