Art_IconThe Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art at Georgia Southern University presents 2014 BFSDoArt Faculty Exhibition from November 10 – December 12 on campus in the Contemporary Gallery of the Center for Art & Theatre. The exhibition includes an artist reception on Thursday, November 13, at 5 p.m. in the gallery. The event is free, and the public is welcome.

The 2014 BFSDoArt Faculty Exhibition features recent artworks of 19 accomplished faculty members representing all disciplines in the Department, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, mixed-media, installation, and video work. The annual exhibition is a showcase of projects, explorations, and selected works created during the past year. Many of the faculty artists have active exhibition records nationally and internationally, so the annual show is a presentation of their artistic achievements for students, staff, and community members.

“One of the things that makes our art faculty so dynamic is that they are also practicing professional artists,” said Interim Gallery Director Anthony Faris. “Art faculty often teach lessons they learned from their own studio practice. Our faculty members create great work and are extremely accomplished, and we are proud to showcase their recent artistic achievements.”

This year, the Department welcomes Robert Farber as its new chair. He will exhibit alongside Donald Armel, Sarah Bielski, Jessica Burke, Patricia Carter, Anthony Faris, Elsie Taliaferro Hill, Jessica Hines, Derek Larson, Christina Lemon, Santanu Majumdar, Julie McGuire, Hans Mortensen, Marc Moulton, Onyile B. Onyile, Kimberly Riner, Edward Rushton, Jeff Schmuki, and Tiffanie Townsend.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Farber will present a New Faculty Lecture on Wednesday, November 5, at 5 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building, Room 2106.

Gallery Programming is supported by Student Activity Fees; all events are free and open to the public. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Georgia Southern University will honor reasonable requests for accommodations. The Center for Art & Theatre is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and by appointment.
