Art Education *The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art and College of Education are not accepting new students into the Masters of Education in Art Education degree program at this time.* Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) Candidates seeking initial teacher certification in the MAT graduate degree program will learn to plan, implement, and evaluate art education programming for grades PreK - 12 in methods and practicum coursework. Theoretical and pedagogical issues such as the history of art education; state and national standards for the teaching of visual arts; artistic development; and classroom management strategies are addressed as well. Valuable teaching experience is gained by working with children in public schools, community centers, after school programs, museums and other alternative settings during the internship component of the degree program.
