Santanu Majumdar, MFA, Louisiana State University, is an assistant professor of graphic design in the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art.
Majumdar provides students with industry exposure while working on classroom projects by presenting real clients from Statesboro and the surrounding areas with graphic-design needs. Clients have included Oracle USA, East Georgia Regional Medical Center, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, B&G Honey Farm, and the Georgia Southern Museum.
Majumdar invites faculty members from management, marketing, logistics, the Department of Psychology, Department of Communication Arts, and graphic communications management to talk about relevant subjects in design. He believes in cross-cultural/cross-discipline collaboration, and started an initiative for his graduate students to write papers and present posters for national and international design conferences.
As a part of this initiative, Majumdar began an international internship course that enables students to work with professional teams of designers, learn how to handle real life projects, explore cultural diversification, and see the world. This exposure not only helps them understand the industry, but also makes students confident to work in any situation or place.
Majumdar was invited to teach a systems design module at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, India. NID is regarded as one of the best design institutions in the world.
