Erk Russell Busts
The Center for Art & Theatre is now selling sculptural busts of the legendary Erk Russell, sculpted by Georgia Southern Professor Emeritus, Pat Steadman!
The Limited Edition Erk Russell Bust is made of bronze and sits on a black walnut base. Priced at $300.00, proceeds benefit the Sculpture Garden located at the Center for Art & Theatre at Georgia Southern.

Sanders Society for the Visual Arts
Named in honor of Georgia Artist and First Lady, Betty Foy Sanders, for her commitment to the visual arts at Georgia Southern University, we are delighted to announce the inception of the Sanders Society for the Visual Arts. Founding membership identifies a commitment by others to join Betty Foy Sanders in her unparalleled advocacy for support of the visual arts in the state of Georgia. The Sanders Society for the Visual Arts at The Center for Art & Theatre is dedicated to ensuring the power and beauty of the arts though arts education and program development.

Acquisitions of contemporary art works to the Georgia Artists Collection and the Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection.
Initiatives: Events such as the autumn Garden Party and spring Evening of the Arts help sustain quality visual arts programming for out students and community.
Gallery Crew Professional Training: Exhibition, collection and outreach program activities provide students with practical real-world experience to model future professionals in the field of art.
Undergraduate and Graduate Student Assistantships: Funding undergraduate scholarships for talented students or graduate assistantships for our exceptional Master of Fine Arts program.
Showcasing student work in competitive exhibition and research arenas: Fund money enables undergraduate and graduate students to ship their artwork across the country, providing an opportunity to showcase their talents outside of campus.

Visual Arts Volunteers extend membership into action and education. Through volunteer efforts, Volunteers provide the essential support necessary to make our quality visual arts program succeed. Whether serving as docents, event hosts, providing collection assistance, planning fundraising events and more, Volunteers become active participants that share their talents at the Center for Art & Theatre in the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art. Visual Volunteers are emerging enthusiasts, dedicated collectors and art lovers wanting to increase their knowledge of and appreciation for contemporary art.

Our collection has been shaped immeasurably by Betty Foy Sanders’ generous gifts. With limited resources to display, store and care for our collection, careful consideration must be given to each object offered before the Center for Art & Theatre is able to accept a gift of art. Most gifts of art qualify for an income tax deduction based on their fair market value as of the date of your gift.
