Public Art Competition

The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute is hosting a public art competition called Art in its Natural State. Artists are invited to design site-specific, temporary outdoor artwork for one of ten outdoor sites atop Petit Jean Mountain in Morrilton, Arkansas.

Artists can submit their designs, build plans and artist’s statement for up to three outdoor sites before September 4, 2017. The designs will be judged anonymously by a panel of artists, curators and instructors from around Arkansas and the 10 winning designs will receive $5,000 to go towards the completion and transportation of the artwork and 6 months to build. Then, in March of 2018, the pieces will be installed on the mountain for up to one year, after which time the artwork and materials return to the artists to use as they see fit.

Official rules and sites up for design can be found here: http://rockefellerinstitute.org/art-in-its-natural-state
