The Department of Art & Averitt Center for the Arts Collaborate for Holiday Sale
The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art and the Averitt Center for the Arts have joined together to celebrate the work of their students, alumni and educators by hosting the 2014 Holiday Exhibition & Sale, All Fired Up, from Thursday, December 4 through Saturday, December 6 at the Averitt Center for the Arts.
The All Fired Up Holiday Exhibition & Sale is lead by Kimberly Riner. Riner, who is no stranger to student exhibition and sales, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from Georgia Southern University. She currently is the visual arts director for Averitt Center for the Arts and a lecturer for the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt). While a student at the BFSDoArt, Riner organized the department’s Club Mud Exhibition & Sale and Empty Bowl Project.
“Previously, the BFSDoArt hosted Student Made and Club Mud Exhibition & Sales. However this year, the Department of Art and Averitt Center for the Arts have collaborated together to allow students from both establishments to network while providing the community a one-stop shop for one-of-a-kind ceramics, porcelain and stoneware, jewelry, small metals, prints and handmade books.”
While the inventory varies, patrons are delighted to find a wide selection of handcrafted ceramics, jewelry, paper and bookmaking products, paintings, prints, and more.
Exhibition & sales, such as All Fired Up, provide BFSDoArt and Averitt students the opportunity to showcase and sell their artwork. This also allows students to network with the community and understand the business aspect of selling visual art. The University and local community serve as the BFSDoArt’s biggest supporters by encouraging the students as they develop their creative talents to evolve and grow into experts of their fields.
Proceeds support BFSDoArt students, student travel, and the visiting artist program. Independent student groups also give back to various local causes including the Bulloch County Humane Society and Statesboro Food Bank.
Prices vary; cash or check only, please.
