Steve McCallum

Georgia Southern alumnus Dr. Steve McCallum is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he joined the faculty in 1986. Dr. McCallum has also served at UT as the Director of the School of Psychology.

Along with his administrative duties, Dr. McCallum teaches courses about cognitive assessment and the diagnosis and treatment of childhood mental illness.

He has published numerous books, book chapters, articles, and tests and has presented his research findings at national and international conferences.

Dr. McCallum co-authored the 1998 Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Test, which provides a psychometrically sound assessment of intelligence for children whose first language is not English or who are deaf or hearing-impaired. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and co-founder and current coeditor of the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment.

He earned a B.A. and an M.A. in psychology from Georgia Southern, and credits the University faculty with stimulating his thoughts and future growth.

McCallum, a proud father of four, is committed to his work, his family, and his community, where among many civic activities, he is a Cub Scout leader.
