Sociology of Games and Competition

(a.k.a. Sociology of Sport)

SOCI 4338 / WGST 4338

This class is designed to teach students to think critically about sport in society. It is my hope that students enrolled in this course will become more aware of the power issues embedded in sports. They will learn to recognize the ways that sport reflects society, including relationships of inequality in society, as well as ways that sport has the potential to transform society.
